How We Keep Care Safe and Consistent

When you invite carers into your home, you need to know they are trustworthy, well trained and properly supported. Here is how Kisumen Care Services keeps care safe, consistent and focused on the people we support.

Safe Recruitment

We take great care over who joins our team. Before anyone supports people on their own, we complete:

  • An Enhanced DBS check
  • Checks on employment history and references
  • Right to work checks
  • A face to face interview focused on values and attitude
  • Confirmation of any relevant qualifications

Training and Development

Every new carer completes an induction before working alone, in line with the Care Certificate standards. Training covers areas such as moving and handling, medication support, infection prevention, safeguarding, first aid, dementia awareness and food hygiene.

Training is refreshed regularly, and carers are encouraged to develop further through recognised qualifications.

Every day

Checking Quality as We Go

  • Supervision and Spot Checks

Our carers are never left on their own to work things out. They receive regular one to one supervision with a senior member of staff, and our supervisors carry out unannounced spot checks to make sure care is delivered safely, respectfully and as agreed in each care plan.

  • Care Plans That Keep Up With You

Every person we support has a personal care plan, written with them and their family. It sets out their needs, preferences and goals, and it is reviewed regularly and whenever something changes, such as after a hospital stay.

Safeguarding

Protecting the people we support is our highest priority. All staff are trained to recognise and report any concern about abuse or neglect, and we work closely with local authority safeguarding teams when needed. Our management team takes every concern seriously and acts promptly.

Listening and consistency

Reliable Care, Open Conversations

  • Familiar Faces and Reliable Cover

We aim to provide a small, consistent team of carers for each person. If a regular carer is unavailable through illness or holiday, we arrange cover from a carer who has been introduced to the care plan, and we let you know in advance wherever possible.

  • Your Feedback Matters

We regularly ask the people we support and their families how we are doing. If something is not right, we want to hear about it so we can put it right. Concerns can be raised with your care coordinator, our registered manager or through our complaints process.
